ZenHanzi on Google Play: A Guide to Your First Mandarin Word

ZenHanzi is available on Google Play for Android. Start with its official listing, install the app, review HSK levels and wallpaper settings, then use Apply to Lock Screen. The learning wallpaper displays Hanzi, tone-marked pinyin, and English meanings. HSK 1 and 2 vocabulary is available for free.

Follow the steps from the store page to a readable word on your device, then explore more vocabulary and settings.

1. Open the right Google Play listing

Use the official link below or follow it from the Codiosity product page. Check the listing name Zen Hanzi and developer Codiosity, then review compatibility and follow the installation process for your Android device.

2. Get to know Home, Browse, and Settings

Home shows the current lock screen item and today’s material. Browse contains packages and the character list; Settings contains wallpaper controls. Button names here follow the app’s English interface.

3. Review levels and display choices

1. 01In Settings, check Enable lock screen wallpaper and HSK level selections. You can begin with HSK 1 or 2 vocabulary, available for free.
2. 02Review Daily character count for the daily amount and Time interval, minutes for the timer-based update interval.
3. 03Start with the Default wallpaper, then adjust Screen dimming or Character color if you need more comfortable readability.

HSK 3–9 and AllAccess are optional additions through in-app purchases. Check the packs and prices displayed when making a purchase; you can explore the initial flow with HSK 1–2 vocabulary first.

4. Apply the current item to your lock screen

In Home, look at the selected item. Previous and Next let you move within the daily collection. Then open Settings and use Apply to Lock Screen to apply the current item while the wallpaper setting is enabled.

Follow permission explanations shown by the app and Android. Choosing Not now when offered the alarm permission can delay updates. Android can also delay rotation; review the app’s explanation before changing the battery settings it offers.

5. Read the three parts of the displayed word

Look at the Hanzi, then the tone-marked pinyin, followed by the English meaning. Make sure you understand that meaning. For pronunciation, complement written pinyin with audio examples or a teacher’s help from the learning resources you use.

6. Check your setup before moving on

Check that the lock screen text is readable. If the app reports a failed update, follow its explanation, try another image if suggested, then use Apply to Lock Screen again. Wallpaper behavior depends on your Android device and settings.

Once ready, use the visible word for a short practice. Complement ZenHanzi vocabulary practice with grammar, listening, and conversation resources.
