Pocket Friend: Meet Mochi, Photo Cards, and Google Play Plans
Meet Pocket Friend, a virtual pet and card game by Codiosity. Care for Mochi, turn photos into cards, and explore the preview ahead of Google Play plans.
Pocket Friend is a virtual pet and collectible card game by Codiosity, with an Android release planned for Google Play. Meet Mochi, a little cream-colored cat, starting with an egg, caring for your pet, and collecting cards to use in duels. The current preview also turns camera photos into cards you can actually play.
Imagine checking Mochi’s little home during a break: seeing how your pet is doing, offering food, or taking a moment to play. Afterwards, you can browse your collection and arrange a deck for another match. Pocket Friend brings pet care and card play together in a warm, cozy setting.
From a little egg to a pet named Mochi
The journey starts with receiving an egg and waiting for Mochi to hatch. Your pet’s home then becomes a place to check three everyday needs: fullness, happiness, and cleanliness. Feed, Play, and Clean actions give you simple ways to care for Mochi and see your little pet respond.
Mochi also has expressions that reflect how things are going. Your pet can look happy, tired, or sleepy, while interactions such as petting have their own reactions. Care becomes part of the game, making a visit home feel like checking in on a character you are getting to know.
Let a photo become part of your card collection
In the preview, you start with the live camera: take a photo, give the moment a name, and reveal the resulting card. The photo becomes part of the card’s appearance, while its element, role, rarity, and statistics shape how it plays. You can keep the card in your collection or put it into your deck.
Photo colors help determine Fire, Water, or Nature elements. Light, contrast, sharpness, and a consistent pattern calculated from the image also contribute to the result. These are image-processing rules; a person’s face or appearance is not being assessed. The reveal screen explains why the card received its result.
For example, you can name a moment you have just photographed, discover the card’s element, and consider where it belongs among the cards you already have. The photo becomes more than a collection decoration: its card follows the same game rules when used in a duel.
Photo processing and game storage currently happen locally in the preview. Friends, friend requests, and photo consent are still local demos showing the intended flow. Social play across devices needs further development; ask anyone in a photo for permission before taking or using their picture.
Build an eight-card deck and try a tabletop duel
The Duel Meja mode uses an eight-card deck and four lanes. Pick a card from your hand, place it in an empty lane, and end your turn. Card placement, elements, and the choice to use a skill give you decisions to consider for the next move. Your goal is to bring the opposing player’s HP down to zero.
- Play against a bot: try a deck and learn how lanes and card abilities work against an opponent controlled by the game.
- Two players on one device: take turns playing on the same device. In the preview, the second player uses a selected demo deck.
- Collection and deck: browse the cards you own, select eight, and consider combinations you would like to try.
Both duel modes run locally, so playing together here means taking turns on a single device. The preview does not yet offer online matches or card trading between players.
Mochi also has Android home-screen widgets
The Android preview includes home-screen widgets. The small widget shows Mochi and a Feed button, while the medium size offers Feed, Play, and Bathe actions. Before hatching, the widget shows the egg and its countdown. It brings part of the pet-care routine closer to a screen you see throughout the day.
Appearance and device support will depend on Android release preparation and testing. The game’s current preview uses Indonesian text. Features introduced here may still change during development before a public release.
